Pleasanton police arrested a man for allegedly burglarizing several homes, including three with open garage doors, earlier this month.
Police officials detailed the July 11 case, generally, in a post on its social media accounts, calling it “The Case of the Open Garage.”
“Three burglaries in less than an hour and they all had something in common: an open garage,” officials wrote on the Pleasanton Police Department’s Facebook page. “We value the help of our community and thank you for being our extra eyes. (emoji) Please remember to secure your belongings and CLOSE your garage.”
Teri Yan, public relations coordinator for PPD, provided more details on the case this week in a follow-up with the Weekly.
The situation unfolded in the evening hours of July 11, in which the same burglar stole items from three Pleasanton homes with the garage door open and a fourth property that was not garage-related, according to Yan. The incidents all occurred that day but not in the same neighborhood.
