SAN JOSE — A two-alarm fire gutted an automotive business in San Jose early Monday morning, a fire official said.
A neighbor across the street and a passerby reported the fire on the 1600 block of Almaden Expressway about 6 a.m., said Capt. Brad Cloutier of the San Jose Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting out of a garage door and over the roof of the one-story building, Cloutier said.
The fire was challenging to fight because of numerous cars parked in front of and inside the business, but firefighters managed to knock down the flames by about 7 a.m., Cloutier said.
No injuries were reported.
A person cleaning up who did not want to be identified said the name of the business was recently changed to Valentino’s Transmission.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Cloutier, adding that an arson investigator was summoned to the scene because the fire involved a large building and caused “significant damage.”
